You Can Talk About That?
Hello Listeners! Does Free Speech really still exist in this country? Do you believe we can we talk about anything? Can followers of Jesus Christ discuss ANY issue, topic, controversy, or dysfunction of today without anger and walk away with their unity in Christ still intact?
Welcome to "YOU CAN TALK ABOUT THAT?” the podcast where we believe any topic is up for discussion. As believers in Christ Jesus our unity is rooted solidly in Him alone. So with that belief as our foundation, we should be able to discuss anything with an open dialogue, a sober mind, holding fast to scripture, and maintain a spirit of peace and unity. I'm your host, Eric, and here at YOU CAN TALK ABOUT THAT?, we're diving into a world of limitless topics. I will, by God’s grace, attempt to use the Bible/Biblical principles, theology, history, political science, social science, and special guests, to examine any topic. We will do deep dives and have light-hearted banter to explore together what God in Christ Jesus would have for us; as we sort out living in this world while longing for our true home. Whether you're here for biblically based content, thought-provoking discussions, or a fresh perspective on taboo topics, you've come to the right place.

He's Out? A Discussion on the Qualifications of an Elder/Pastor
With the sad new stories of men disqualifying themselves from vocational ministry, these questions must be asked:
1. Are Elders/Pastors necessary?
2. What standards are in the Bible for Elders/Pastors?
3. Why do Elders/Pastors keep being removed from vocational ministry?
4. Are Elders/Pastors being removed a "good" thing?
5. Do we trust the leaders to make these decisions, or should the lay congregants have input?
6. What to do in the church if an elder or pastor isn't qualified anymore and they will not leave?
Eric uses the Bible as the guide in this episode. (specifically Titus 1:5-9, 1 Timothy 3:1-7) May God be glorified as we follow his Word and obey His ways.

Kevin DeYoung article on if every sin is the same in God's eyes. We tend to dismiss the sins of elders, because we are sinners too. This is humility in action. DeYoung makes the biblical case, that God does see certain sins differently, and God will judge elders with a strictness that He will not apply to the rest of us.

A great article from David Mathis on the what it means for an elder to run his household "well".
